Libra Speciality Chemicals supplies vital performance enhancers for hair care including shampoos, conditioners, hair detangling products, hair dyes, waves & relaxers, and styling products.
Libraquat PQ7: a highly charged cationic polyquaternium co-polymer used in a variety of hair care applications.
Libraquat PQ7 is ideal for applications in shampoos or conditioners. it produces excellent moisturising properties, is high foaming and produces a rich, creamy lather. It diminishes grease, cleanses the hair and leaves the hair soft and smooth, as well as having a silky-smooth appearance.
The naturally anionic (negatively charged) characteristics of hair benefit from the cationic (positively charged) PQ7, which reduces static and the fly away charges on the hair.
The PQ7 slip enables easier wet combing and can be applied to detangling hair sprays. It produces a glossy finish by drying as a micro film over the hair strands. This micro invisible film performs as a strengthening agent, which helps to hold the shape of the hair.
The product is manufactured with microbiologically pure water. The special manufacturing process also creates a crystal-clear, water-white product, ensuring no extra colourant is required in the finalised formulation. The product also has no odour, therefore there is no need for any additional fragrance. Relatively small amounts of PQ7 are needed in typical formulations, hence it is a highly efficient and cost-effective product.
Libra Speciality Chemicals ensures the quality of its products by combining state-of-the-art High Power Liquid Chromatography (HLPC) and Gas Chromatography (GC) analytical techniques, along with a carefully controlled manufacturing process.
Librateric Betaines: includes Cocamidopropyl Betaine (CAPB), which is a mixture of closely related organic compounds derived from coconut oil and dimethylaminopropylamine.
The Librateric range is the ideal solution for hair care and is a naturally derived, high-performance additive for hair conditioners, as well as wash products. It is used for its moisturising effect and helps the appearance of the hair, maintaining the integrity of the cuticle surface to improve the shine of the hair.
The range provides excellent viscosity building and foam boosting to complement anionic based cleansers for shampoos and conditioners to condition the hair and reduce static build-up. This aids the hair’s structural protection abilities and the retention of its initial resistance to yield for a longer period, making it less prone to fracture.
Our high-quality range of Librateric Cocamidopropyl Betaines (CAB) is manufactured from low colour and low odour feedstock. The CAB molecule is produced by reacting dimethylaminopropylamine (DMAPA) with either fatty acids, coconut oil or palm kernel oil.
The multi-million-pound market-leading Betaine plant at Libra Speciality Chemicals’ Manchester UK site supplies Betaines to both UK and global markets. The plant is certified to the European Federation for Cosmetic Ingredients (EFfCI), demonstrating that the processes are the highest quality standard to produce the best surfactants for the personal care and cosmetics industry.
The dedicated plant is fully automated, and its process control uses artificial intelligence to adapt and improve product quality. Betaine contains salt which can react with ordinary 304 and 316L stainless steel resulting in iron contamination. To prevent this, Libra’s reactors are made from a special duplex alloy, which provides superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance to prevent contamination of the product.
