Consumers are becoming increasingly more conscious of where their personal care products are sourced from. More than ever, consumers are demanding naturally derived, sustainable and vegan raw materials within their day to day products. Libra have developed a range of Alkyl Polyglucosides (LibraCare APGs) made from high quality: Naturally derived, vegan, renewable and GMO-free raw materials, which align with today’s consumer demands.
The LibraCare APG series are a range of non-ionic surfactants derived from renewable raw materials – fatty alcohols from coconut and palm kernel oils, and glucose from corn. Where Palm Kernel Oil is used, Libra also supply RSPO Mass Balance certified products.
Libra’s APG’s provide a range of properties including good wetting, dispersing and surface activity. They are effective surfactants in caustic, acidic and neutral formulations. Additionally, they are great viscosity modifiers and can produce rich and stable foam. LibraCare APG’s are effective co-surfactants for rinse off hair and body products and have good compatibility with all other types of surfactants. This often results in synergistic effects including an improvement in the mildness of formulations.
Additionally, APG’s are effective hydrotropes and solubilises and find applications in formulations with high concentrations of surfactants at both high and low pH. APG’s are very mild, low in toxicity and readily biodegradable. The synergistic effects of LibraCare Alkyl Polyglucosides with other commonly used surfactants yield a performance improvement which can be the basis for a reduction of surfactant content whilst maintaining a high-performance level.
