Libra Speciality Chemicals is the proud recipient of two prestigious Chemicals Northwest Awards for 2019!
The results of the hotly contested awards were announced at the 9th Chemicals Northwest Awards dinner on 28 March at The Imperial War Museum North, Manchester.
Leading the way in international trade
Libra’s success in the International Trade category commends how we have revolutionised our approach to export business over the past year, extending our reach beyond Europe to new territories to strengthen and future-proof our trade position.
An impressive 24% growth in export sales was achieved in just one year through our focus on personalised, face-to-face engagement with our customers, and our commitment to a true partnership approach that goes well beyond supply.
Richard Lock, Commercial Director, Libra, commented: ‘Our Chairman and CEO, Graham Royle, set out a three-pronged growth strategy for Libra – more chemistry on the plant, sell into more global geographies and sell into more industry sectors. We are absolutely delighted to win this award, which demonstrates our ongoing success to take Libra’s products around the world. We are now selling on every continent into many industries and we continue to grow each year.’
Nurturing the next generation of chemical graduates
Our win in the Young Talent in Technical Operations category highlights our continuing focus on developing the talent and expertise of our skilled workforce. It commends an exemplary first year in industry for our Graduate Process Engineer James Chatterton, and the significant contribution he made in helping Libra to deliver its largest and most complex project in history – the creation of a new, world-class, multifunctional manufacturing plant.
Graham Cox, Operations Director, Libra, commented: ‘Libra has an excellent reputation for developing our staff and also for engaging with universities for work placements to help train the next generation of chemical graduates. We are extremely proud of James, who joined Libra at a time when we were part-way through constructing a new factory unit with some of the largest batch reactors in the world. James dived into this multi-million-pound project with incredible enthusiasm and truly demonstrated his technical abilities.’
Libra is a proud supporter and active member of Chemicals Northwest – the UK’s largest industry-led organisation for the chemical sector. Read more about the organisation and this year’s awards on the Chemicals Northwest website here.
