Chris joined the Libra Speciality Chemicals team in November 2021 as a designate Finance Director and officially joined the Board of Directors several months later. The objectives of the finance function which Chris manages at Libra are to look after the financial processes, to maintain effective financial control, but also to add value to the business, as well as being involved in decision-making, to breath with the business, identifying risks and opportunities and working on solutions with all staff and directors.
Chris has a degree in Economics and an MBA specialising in Finance. These are supplemented by a career across a number of industries from manufacturing to logistics, and from services to travel. Chris also worked as a financial consultant for many years, but most of his working life has been in or around manufacturing and it is this knowledge and experience that is put to good practice at Libra.
Chris is keen to deliver a forward-looking, insightful, quality financial service to the business and to develop staff within finance and to share knowledge across the Libra business and working as one team. Chris says it is far easier to achieve our objectives with the whole business pulling in one direction and that is what has been successful so far for Libra, so why change it?
Chris states “Joining a business at the financial year end is always a challenge but it was a case of settling in quickly which was easy as the team were very welcoming and getting to know the business and processes. The year-end audit was very positive, and the business performance has strengthened year on year which made the process all the more enjoyable.2022 has presented many challenges along with many opportunities. Each one is unique, but the Finance team play their part in driving towards a common goal which is to enhance the Libra business, making the most of quality products and great customers, and working to ensure that all stakeholders are valued.”
